What is Warden?

Is there a history behind this name Warden?
Один из наших разработчиков исследовал сбор парольных менеджеров, и как-то получилось название. В качестве референса взяли Bitwarden — ничего сверхъестественного.
One of our developers researched password manager collections, and somehow a name came out. We used Bitwarden as a reference — nothing extraordinary.
How many people do you think have used Warden? Approximately
Сейчас активно пользуются около 110 человек. Общее число пользователей мы не знаем, но оно явно больше.
Currently, about 110 people are actively using it. We don’t know the total number of users, but it’s clearly more.
Since when has the stealer been operating?
Разработка шла с начала 2026 года, а в публичный доступ вышли 21 июля. Проект совсем свежий, но это не мешает нам ломать устои рынка. Нам интересно делать что-то новое.
Development began in early 2026, and the project was made available to the public on July 21. The project is quite new, but that doesn’t stop us from breaking the market’s conventions. We’re interested in doing something new.
What makes Warden different from competitors? What do you offer your clients to convince them to choose your product?
Главное, на мой взгляд, — честность. Люди очень недоверчиво относятся к MaaS-стиллерам после всего, что произошло вокруг Lumma, и к нам изначально тоже относились с недоверием. Но сейчас ситуация постепенно меняется в лучшую сторону. С технической стороны у нас: действительно красивая и проработанная панель без лишних танцев с прокладками и работой с логами; билды, чистые на WD Cloud (думаю, что единственные, кто бы что там не заявлял), максимальная простота но при этом очень обширная функциональность.
In my opinion, the most important thing is honesty. People are very distrustful of MaaS stellers after everything that happened around Lumma, and we were initially met with distrust as well. But now the situation is gradually changing for the better. From a technical standpoint, we have: a truly beautiful and well‑developed panel without any unnecessary tinkering with shims and working with logs; builds that are clean on WD Cloud (I think we’re the only ones who can say that, no matter what anyone claims); maximum simplicity, yet very extensive functionality.
Why did you decide to release a stealer in Rust language?
Выбор Rust объясняется нашим опытом работы с ним. Нам очень нравится его устройство, удобство и в какой-то степени безопасность (хотя при работе с Windows API этот плюс нивелируется, но накосячить всё равно сложнее). Плюс он дает очень хорошие возможности при морфинге кода, да и в целом очень приятный язык для такого высоконагруженного проекта, как мы.
Our choice of Rust is due to our experience working with it. We really like its structure, usability, and, to some extent, its safety (although this advantage is offset when working with the Windows API, it’s still harder to make a mistake). Plus, it provides very good opportunities for code morphing, and overall it’s a very pleasant language for a high‑load project like ours.
Do you leverage AI for developing? How much of the original codebase was AI-assisted?
Да, мы пользуемся AI. Детали работы с LLM раскрывать не буду. Они помогают в ресерче и иногда очень помогают в разработке. Думаю, что те, кто не использует LLM, сильно отстанут от рынка и прогресса вообще. По значимости эта технология для меня сопоставима с созданием интернета.
Yes, we use AI. I won’t disclose the details of how we work with LLMs. They help with research and sometimes are very helpful in development. I think that those who don’t use LLMs will fall far behind the market and progress in general. In terms of significance, this technology is comparable to the creation of the internet for me.
What relation has Warden with other windows stealers?
Если вопрос подразумевает, что мы форк чьего-то проекта — нет, ничего подобного. У нас даже опыта в проливе трафика нет :)
Весь проект, вся его основа, архитектура, каждый микросервис, билд — всё писалось с нуля, поэтому первичная разработка заняла примерно полгода, а самый пик объема работы — прямо сейчас.
If the question implies that we’re a fork of someone else’s project — no, nothing like that. We don’t even have any experience in traffic spillage :)
The entire project, its entire foundation, architecture, every microservice, and build — everything was written from scratch, so the initial development took about six months, and the peak volume of work is happening right now.
We have seen a rapid surge in the usage of Warden, why this happened now?
Думаю, тут играет много факторов: уровень отстука, отношение к пользователям, удобство панели. Мне трудно сказать что влияет больше всего. Вероятно — иной подход сыграл нам на руку, мы не пытались кого-то скопировать или повторить чей-то успех, делали то, что нам казалось будет удобным и понравится пользователям. Отдельно хотелось бы отметить, что примерно половина наших клиентов — пользователи других стиллеров, которые пришли к нам благодаря “сарафанному радио”, что непременно радует.
I think there are many factors at play here: the level of responsiveness, the attitude towards users, and the usability of the panel. It’s hard for me to say what has the biggest impact. Probably, a different approach played into our hands — we didn’t try to copy anyone or replicate someone else’s success; we did what we thought would be convenient and what users would like. I’d also like to note that about half of our customers are users of other strollers who came to us thanks to word‑of‑mouth, which is certainly encouraging.

Проблем хватает. Начиная с детектов WD и заканчивая обновлениями Chrome. Мы уже работаем над обходом хромовских апдейтов, которые ломают вход в Google-аккаунты. Коротко: стало хуже, из-за обновлений Google.
There are plenty of problems. Starting with WD detections and ending with Chrome updates. We’re already working on bypassing Chrome updates that break access to Google accounts. In short: things have gotten worse due to Google updates.
In forums, you define Warden as a combination of “stealer, clipper, and loader”. Where is the development of Warden focused on?
Пока основной фокус — стиллер. Но готовится обновление, которое сдвинет акцент на более интересные вещи. Прямо сейчас пока я это пишу — второй разработчик делает вторую версию клиппера. Пока не буду раскрывать остальных подробностей :)
For now, the main focus is the stealer. But an update is in the works that will shift the focus to more interesting things. Right now, as I’m writing this, the second developer is working on the second version of the clipper. I won’t reveal the rest of the details yet :)
Can you share what improvements we are going to see in Warden in the future?

You describe a feature of Warden as the “only true morpher on the market (not just an obfuscator), built upon AST code parsing and LLVM IR passes”. Can you describe this?
Глядя на билды других стиллеров, я так и не понял, где они нашли там морфер. Чаще всего это обычный LLVM-пасс (с Github) для обфускации. Никакого изменения layout бинарника, статистики опкодов и прочего. Мы же реально потратили много времени на изучение схожести PE файлов друг с другом. Наш морфер работает на трёх уровнях: PE layout, AST, IR, ASM. Это позволяет делать билды, которые довольно сильно отличаются друг от друга (конечно полностью сделать их отличными не получится).
Looking at the builds of other stealers, I still didn’t understand where they found the morpher. Most often, it’s just a regular LLVM pass (from GitHub) for obfuscation. No changes to the binary layout, opcode statistics, or anything else. We actually spent a lot of time studying the similarities between PE files. Our morpher works at three levels: PE layout, AST, IR, ASM. This allows us to create builds that differ quite significantly from each other (of course, it’s not possible to make them completely different).
Does Warden works on the CIS countries?

How do you see the infostealer market? Is this a good time to work?
Думаю, сейчас хорошее время для работы. Но раньше, мне кажется, было в разы лучше. Закручивание гаек со стороны Google сильно сказывается на логах. Так происходит в большинстве сфер, ничего удивительного.
I think now is a good time to work. But I think it was much better before. The tightening of the screws by Google is having a big impact on the logs. This happens in most areas, so it’s nothing surprising.
What would you say to those “information security experts” who are trying to track Warden?
