eSentire is pleased to announce that Tia Hopkins, Vice President, Global Sales Engineering, has won an SC Media Reboot Leadership Award in the Rising Star category. The Reboot Leadership Awards are an adjunct to SC Media’s annual Reboot coverage that takes place each December when SC Media recognizes the best and brightest cybersecurity luminaries and organizations.
These Rising Star winners and their accomplishments caught the attention of the industry and are ones to watch going forward. The nominees for this category faced a thorough judging process conducted by SC Media’s editorial team. Winners were chosen based on their outstanding service, qualifications and advancements in the cybersecurity industry.
Tia said, “I’m passionate about working with people and helping them to learn, understand and improve their organization’s overall security posture. I am honored by this award as an industry validation of this passion. I will continue to teach and mentor wherever I can so that today’s and tomorrow’s networks will be more secure. I will also keep advocating for greater inclusion and diversity within the cybersecurity field.”
Tia works to shrink the cybersecurity talent gap by participating in programs that encourage women and girls to explore cybersecurity as a career path. She is currently a volunteer for Built by Girls, which offers in-person programming for young women and professionals in six cities nationwide. Tia has also teamed up with Leading Cyber Ladies, a meetup for women working in or hoping to grow their career in the field of cybersecurity. In April, she took on the role of adjunct professor for Yeshiva University’s MS in cybersecurity program. She teaches workshops and speaks at conferences on hot cybersecurity topics, as well.
“Demonstrating leadership, initiative and commitment to a safer digital society, SC Media’s 2019 Reboot Awards winners have rightfully earned their distinction as key players within the larger cybersecurity ecosystem,” said Teri Robinson, executive editor, SC Media.
“Since hiring Tia, she has been on a meteoric rise to top producer and, ultimately, a standout leader amongst her peers in the global solutions engineering team,” said Sean Blenkhorn, Chief Product Officer at eSentire. “Shortly after her first-year anniversary, it was clear we needed to put Tia in a leadership position. Her commitment and drive to excellence coupled with her desire for the people around her to be successful are difficult traits to find, and we are absolutely honored that she is here with us.”
Angela Rizzo, eSentire’s Vice President of Marketing, was immediately drawn to Tia for her kindness and ability to put strangers at ease. “She has a clear command of the cybersecurity landscape, a deep understanding of the issues customers face and how our products and services help businesses avoid service interruption. I look forward to seeing Tia advance through the leadership ranks as she gains more visibility with our customers and executives.”
