Operational Threat Intelligence: A Conversation With Allan Liska

At this year’s RSA Conference, Lenny Liebmann of Dark Reading sat down with our own Allan Liska, senior security architect at Recorded Future, to discuss how information security teams are operationalizing threat intelligence, the arrival of Recorded Future’s new technical partner program, and what sets Recorded Future apart from the multitude of other threat intelligence vendors out there.

During the interview, Liska explained that the best threat intelligence is operational and role specific. The benefits are abundant — from incident response teams seeing improved enrichment, to vulnerability teams being able to reduce risk through patching, all the way to security operations centers (SOCs) more effectively determining the consequences of a threat. Liska emphasizes that relevant threat intelligence is what makes the greatest impact in each of these roles.

Liska also touched on our recent technical partner program launch, Recorded Future Connect Xchange, which extends Recorded Future’s mutual customer environment and gives partners the ability to develop their own integrations in our platform, providing threat intelligence exactly where companies need it.

There are many companies offering threat intelligence, but Liska says what makes Recorded Future unique is the combination of machine learning, a sharp ability to scan the open source web, and our incredibly talented team of analysts. Liska explains that our technical capabilities coupled with a personal touch is what makes our customers more successful, and he’s proud to provide that type of service to clients.
