What: Women in Cybersecurity Networking Event @Infosecurity Europe 2017
Where: Conference Centre, Olympia London
When: Wednesday 7 June 2017, 08:30-11:00
Infosecurity Magazine, the industry’s leading, award-winning title is putting careers for women in cybersecurity on its 2017 agenda, presenting a dedicated Women in Cybersecurity Networking Event, as part of Infosecurity Week.
The event will bring together Infosecurity professionals to learn and network with each other in a collaborative environment, beginning with two keynote speeches from BBC Technology journalist Kate Russell and Mary-Jo de Leeuw, Associate Partner, Revnext and founder of the Women in Cyber Security Foundation, who will take to the stage to offer their insights and learnings.
This will be followed by a panel discussion looking at ‘How to Sell Your Professional Self in a Male-Dominated Industry’. The session will consider (and dispel) gender stereotypes and offer tips and advice on how to gain credibility and change employers perceptions, whilst the panel of speakers will share their experiences overcoming challenges and driving their careers forward. The event will be chaired by Eleanor Dallaway, editor of Infosecurity Magazine, and panellists include:
- Kirsty Philips, Consultant, Hawker Chase and Founder of WinC
- Jennifer Steffens, CEO of IOActive
- Lyndsay Turley, Head of Communications and Public Affairs, (ISC)2 EMEA
- Story Tweedie-Yates, Product Marketing Manager, Cisco Security
The session will conclude with 45-minutes for networking where attendees can connect, share insight and make new contacts, before heading off to enjoy all the other opportunities Infosecurity Europe has to offer for the rest of the day.
Eleanor Dallaway, Infosecurity Magazine, said: “There are so many varied careers within the sector, but relatively few women choosing to work in information security. We wanted to create an environment that would provide a networking opportunity for both male and female visitors to the show, and a platform for women who have successfully forged their careers in cybersecurity to share their knowledge and insights. We are very excited to be able to host an event that will put a focus on women working in the industry and hope all attendees will find the event both inspirational and encouraging.”
The Women in Cybersecurity Networking Event takes place during Infosecurity Week – a seven-day, city-wide landmark event bringing Infosecurity professionals together to learn, explore and have fun in and around London during the week of 5-11 June 2017.
With 8 theatres onsite, talking both theory and practice, the Infosecurity Europe Conference Programme is the largest accredited CPE/CPD/ECE information security conference programme on the European continent, featuring presentations and talks from leading end-user practitioners, policy makers, analysts and thought leaders, to government and law enforcement representatives.
